Chasing Indie Tail(wind)

For you who don't know (I find it hard to believe there are any Indie authors who hasn't heard of) Joe Konrath I just want to share with you his posts on his numbers of books sold 276112. Very impressive, right.

Well I also call the post by Saffina Desforges author of Sugar and Spice to also be very impressive. Her one and only book has been out five months and has hit and probably run over the 20,000 mark. You can read more about her on her blog post Fighting With the Big Boys  Me, I'm. Going to go out and catch some tailwind. I can really use some as I sharpen my marketing skills.

Amazon, Why is Posting Reviews So Hard?

Okay,so I was skimming, I should say 'speed reading' through this awesome post by fellow Kindle author Tim Ellis http://timellis.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/evolving-language-book-tags-likes-and-reviews.html (No links, I'm posting from my Droid here people) and I was again struck by te fact bookstores make giving reviews hard for the reader. I have one question....why?

This is Amazon's review process. First the reader has to wait 24-72 hours after purchasing the book (Amazon doesn't care if they fell off the edge of the bed after staying up all night reading the book) to leave a review, then they have to sign in or make an account, or validate their account while giving all of their vital information(and blood), wait unil their email address is validated (another promise of many hours), write the review and then they are told it may take 24-72 hours before it is posted. God help them if they made a mistake. And what happens to the unfortunate soul who doesn't posses a credit card?

You would think Amazon (and Smashwords for that matter) would make it easier. Smashwords is just about the same. An account has to be setup just to buy the book. The only thing with that is it seems as if the buyer is setting up a publishing profile. They just want to buy my book for jebus *Homer Simpson voice* sake. This is totally frustrating for someone not familiar with the computer online rigamarole.
In my opinion a different system should be setup. Or is his a ruse to keep family and friends from stating their awesome reviews? Family and friends are customers, customers who read, customers who buy the book and should be able to write their reviews. The blood letting process they have to go through doesn't check DNA, so what's the big deal anyway? I say untie their hands so I can get reviews.

To Market to Market

It's Easter and like all of the major publishing companies Wade-In Publishing is having a Spring book sale. Did I say major? Well I am famous (on the internet)just google Ey Wade. I had a good fight with myself about the idea of a sale.

As an indepenent author/self-publisher everything is crucial.
One little mistake and a major catastrophe could strike and then where would I be?

So I scoured the internet, gleened from other indies, practically losing a proverbial ear and divised my plan. All Ey Wade books are on sale for a limited time at Amazon. Easy to find http://amzn.to/eywadebooks or http://amzn.to/wade-inbooks 99¢ and you buy the best.Watch for me on twitter and Facebook.

And just for the record it wasn't as critical as I thought. Just a cut here and there and all was ready. So, if you want to know more about the books pull up a chair @ http://theinterviewedcharacter.blogspot.com and get to know the people who have succeeded in escaping my brain.

All I can say is....any ideas on where to hide the eggs?

WTH is going on in America? We get a bunch of men (and it is always men) and let them rule over our finances, health and the education of our (I should say 'your') children and expect all to run smooth. Ha! I laugh at the oxymoron.
Men argue like little children on a playground all wanting to be king of the hill and all toppling over because they don't know what to do when they get to the pinnacle. And when they do get a pretty decent leader, they chop at his toes, hit him in the back, harass his butt near to death about and try to find ways to knock him down. WTH? Close down the government, take health care and benefits from the women...the backbone of the country. Where will you stand silly men? Without healthy women, your mothers, your daughters, your wives, the little things you chase on the street....what will be left of your world? Stupid little nimnims. Grow up and learn to work together.
We, as Americans have four major faults. America elects men who have great hopes in serving their country as President. These men put their lives and the lives of every member of their family on the line to do this and we erroneously expect big change in a small amount of time. We vote these men in, don't stand behind them, and then we publicly ridicule them. I applaud those men for their efforts. Hell, I applaud them just for the audacity to believe they can make a change for the better.

1. We forget about the time it takes to clean the mess from the former tenants. Mess piles on top of years of mess and requires time and help to clear.
2. We bitch whine, and complain about what we want. Forgetting it’s not about the individual, but what's good for the country.
3. We ignore the haters and the friends left behind from the former tenants who won't play nice and cause flack and gridlock to this new leader.
4. When this new leader finally starts to make a path and improve things (regardless of what we, who have no idea how to run a country believes) we kick him out and vote in another poor bleeding heart sucker and we start all over. Insanity.

What I am saying is this, when we are fighting for a 'cause' we must remember we are fighting the system and not a person. We have to be diligent in collecting facts, have an unbreakable, unbeatable plan, and remember all of our foes may not be of one color. Pay attention to the present. What we consider 'small things' is happening daily in the schools; on the jobs; in the government. Pay attention so we don't step back in time.  Stop trying to benefit from the past.

One Misplaced Code Can Screw You

Oh my gosh. If you know nothing to very little about html....stay away from your blog! The pages links on my In The Chair blog weren't working and I figured, I could fix that. After all I was the one who did it before, right? Wrong in a big way. It took all day until this morning to find that one tiny piece of #@&%$ to get it fixed. Turns out it must have been Mozilla 'cuz it works on the cell. Now to go and fix the other mess. Ugh!
