Okay, so news really resembles fiction or is it the other way around? Does the world copy what is written in a novel or does the novel imitate life?

 A few years ago I wrote a novel The Perfect Solution depicting the inner workings of child care and the needed diligent observance of children from their childcare providers. In the book a three year old is stalked and mistakenly given to the stalker by his pre-school teacher. It received great reviews from CPS, center owners, and childcare providers which can be viewed here-http://www.wade-inpublishing.com/p/whats-on-shelf.html. The Novel is now in ebook formation.

I see nothing has really changed.  The horrific headlines of those poor babies dying because of Jessica Tata negligence brings the childcare care system back into the limelight. After working in the childcare system for over 35 years, and after some of the things I have seen, I am not surprised.

As for the headlines regarding the gang rape of the eleven year old girl. My God I am heartily appalled. I know, at least I hope Cleveland, Texas is nothing near the same as my fictional town of Shinningbal, Texas. And yet I wonder. In Shinningbal the children are not considered the victims. In Shinningbal the adults are seen as the abused and they get away with their rapes and molestations. Uhmmm, in Shinningbal their is an avenger for the children.

So, my hero is at it again. Okay, I know people will say God is supposed to be your hero, but sometimes He puts someone in our face as a leader and we follow them....at least some parts of them. The parts that make life seem bearable and/or optional.
Well, Joe posted a blog today  Depression and Writers (http://jakonrath.blogspot.com/) and hopefully it will help out the author Kiana Davenport (http://www.amazon.com/Kiana-Davenport/e/B000APAU8C) who is going through struggles. I know, we all are, right. Depression as a writer is hard, especially when you have to feed a family and supply housing. Anyway just reading it helped me. It helped me see I am not the only one going through and that there are people who care about the Indie. I follow Joe's steps and hopefully will one day be able to pay a bill with my writing. At the moment all I can say is read his blog, buy the lady's book and give her a hand.

Lift Ev'ry Voice

James Weldon Johnson composed the lyrics of Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing for which his brother J. Rosamond Johnson composed the music. This is commonly known as the "Negro (or Black) National Anthem."  R&B singer Kim Weston sings "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" in front of a 100,000 at Wattstax--a festival at the Los Angeles Coliseum on August 20, 1972 organized by the Memphis Stax label to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the Watts riots and black power, pride, culture, tradition and heritage struggle. The party and peacefulness was seen by some as "African Americans answer to Woodstock".

Things That make You Say What the fff...Hell!

I'm all for having friends and following on Facebook, Twitter, the different groups on the Internet highway, but sometimes the crazy has to stop.

Yesterday I ran into two things-

 1. A 'friend' I had to block because his profile pictures began losing more and more clothing at each snap. What the flesh show has to do with being a legitimate author is beyond me. Call me old, but if I'm following you its because I've checked through your profile and liked the things you wrote not your biceps or your crotch. Small little thing that it was.  Sometimes, people take the concept of being on Facebook so close to heart they think they're on the red carpet and all light shines on them. Get over it people! You are not a star and if you pay attention to the media you would realize stars fall far and in crazy spirals. Put your pants on, pick up a pen or get the heck off the podium.

2. The Black folk rant against the Black folk. A stupid rant about "Negroes" not wanting to be on the bookshelf with other "Negroes" (they're words). I almost felt the whip telling me to shut my mouth and stay in my place. I just had to say this to the mix- "It's not that we don't want to be next to the Negro we just don't want be allowed to be 'only' next to the Negro."

I don't believe the point is whether or not it is profitable to have African-American books placed throughout the bookstores or whether its best to stay segregated. I think the point is, books shouldn't be judged by whether you are a person of color or for that matter of non-color, but by the value of the words on the page. To tell the honest truth when I pick up a book I don't look at the author or their profile I look at what the book is about and whether it suits my taste.
