After following a few articles from recommendations on Twitter I became aware of headlines which fit so well with manuscripts I have been working on. I found it amazing how close headlines fit to the works of the written word
The Perfect Solution is a novel written about a child mistakenly given to a stranger by his preschool teacher. Many people believe such a thing couldn’t happen and yet, the headline SEARCH FOR GIRL TAKEN BY IMPOSTER from a U.K. paper shouts a different belief. An 18 month old child was given to a stranger by the police who were in charge of her protection. Both the book and the true life incident reeks of poor supervision by the authorities in charge. The Perfect Solution also addresses many other incidents occurring in some child care centers as does articles like these Ohio Daycare Workers Giving Sleepaid to Children and Community Activist selling moonshine in Childcare.
Unfortunately, with the Perfect Solution poor choices were made through the handling of an incompetent agent and now the novel is being shopped around. This could be a great time for manu review, just sayin'.
In the headline Bradley videoed abuse children, Dr. Earl B. Bradley abuses his pediatric patients. He faces 27 charges including four charges of first-degree rape, two charges of second-degree rape and 14 charges of sexual exploitation of a child. It seems to me to be a total waste of the judicial system to give this guy a 'fair trial'. I have tired of the news reports of the innocent children being abused and wondered what would happen if a common citizen decided to take retribution on child molesters. At the moment I am working on a project I titled The Fishing Trip. This story is part of a series I am working on titled Life Demanding Action. In The Fishing Trip a man named Durham takes revenge on all of the child molesters he encounters. In the novel some of the most violent and horrendous acts on children are performed and the abusers face retribution. In my opinion anyone who has the sick mind to rape and/or commit other acts of violence on children, should just accept the fact they will die without a trial.
Durham is sick and tired of the child predators having 'fair trials'. What about the children? Where is the fairness to them? Believing rapists should be eliminated on the spot, Durham sets out to even the odds as quick as possible. In this excerpt of the thriller The Fishing Trip we are pulled into the mind of a child avenger.
CHAPTER 1
“My arms are tired, Durham. I’ve been rowing this boat for the past twenty minutes. My fingers are getting blisters! And I have a huge splinter in my palm. Why is it you always make me do the rowing on these trips?”
“Stop whining, Penny. Do you want to do my job? Do you think it’s easy to do what I do? Do you think it doesn’t tire me to crack someone’s neck with my bare hands?”
“I’m sure it does. I don’t know how you do it. Just hearing the sound of a person’s bones breaking makes me shudder and gag. Knowing I am hearing them release their last breath makes me wanna vomit.”
“That’s how I felt at first, but now I just want to get the job over and collect my pay. You can stop rowing we’re almost there. Pull the oars in. Be careful with the poles I don’t want you to hit this fool on the head.”
“What difference would it make? He is dead right?”
“Yeah, but I want no excess marks on the body or blood in the boat. Give me that rope from behind your back so I can tie this tarp around his body.”
“Here it is. Stretch out your hand its right in front of you. Damn it’s dark. I can barely see your hands.”
“You tryin’ to say I’m too black to see in the night?”
“No. I’m just saying it’s too dark out here tonight. We’ve been on the water three times this week and each time you knew exactly where to stop and it has been dark as all hell.”
“Experience pays off. I’m a creature of habit.”
“Sometimes that’s not a good thing, Durham. It could be your downfall.”
“I know. Cover your face there’s going to be a big nasty splash when this sloppy fat bastard hits the water.”
As the water rushed into the air and the odor of rot and death seeped in through her nose and flowed quickly and deeply to the pit of her empty stomach, she gagged. The small indention behind her ears began to burn, bile rose to her throat and she fought hard not to vomit in retaliation.
“Oh hell….” Retching fruitlessly, Penny pulled the neckline of her shirt to cover her mouth and nose. “You weren’t kidding. That….damn….water….stinks.” Her retching sounds causing a pause between each of the four words. “How many bodies have you fed to the fishes?”
“Too many to count and if I tell you….well you know the old saying. Hand me the oars. I’ll row back.”
“Thanks.”
Penny looked around at her surroundings. It was nightmarish dark. No stars, eerie clouds and sliver of moonlight peered through the thick foliage of the trees surrounding the spot where the body had disappeared. It was damned spooky. If any kind of water monster wanted to jump up and grab them, this would be the perfect spot. They would disappear and no one would have any idea where to search for them. She shivered in the cool darkness; they were as much a part of the shadows as death was a part of the waters.
“Where do you think the bodies go, Durham?” She whispered just in case one of those monsters from her childhood nightmares was more than a figment of her imagination. “I’ve never heard of any bodies resurfacing so they must fall pretty deep.”
Durham laughed at the fear showing in the expanse of white in her eyes. Penny held her arms crossed tight across her chest, the rocking of her body having nothing to do with the movement of the water.
“You’re not afraid of the dark are you Penny?”
“Without a doubt I am and I’m not ashamed to say it, either.”
Durham chuckled between the strokes of the oar.
“Well, be close to the shore soon. And don’t worry about the bodies coming up because they fall into a huge cavern and just keep on going. The cavern has a vacuum like suction, things go down and nothing comes up. That’s why I always make you stop rowing at the large cluster of branches jutting out at the curve back there. The current is strong and I don’t want to get sucked in. If there were any stars I would be able to show you where the safety rope was tied. It’s there in case we ever fall into the water. Remind me to bring a flashlight the next time we come out so I can show you. Talk about a scary adventure falling in the lake and catching the ends of the rope at just the right moment. ”
“You get a thrill from danger, don’t you?”
“Yup, I get more of a thrill from getting paid big bucks for dropping sloppy fat bastards in a watery hole.”
“I think the real thrill for you comes from getting rid of perverts. These guys deserve everything they get.”
“You know it. This last one wiggled his way into the life and home of a single mom with three little kids. Poor woman really thought he loved her and all he wanted was to get into her bank account and to rape her children.”
“Sorry bastard.”
“Sorry dead bastard. I hope he rots in hell.”
“You know I think it’s a good thing to get child molesters off the street…hell out of the world, but how are you so sure you’re are getting the right people? What if you make a mistake and take the wrong person on a trip?”
“I don’t worry about it.”
“Wha…?”
“I’m kidding. Duck your head and watch the branches. I do my research every time I get a request for a fishing trip. I check the person and their habits out thoroughly. Almost every one of these guys uses the internet for child pornography. I find what they think are a commonality and build from there. I never take a trip if it seems like the guy is innocent.”
“But who makes the call…uhm request? What if a person is being set up?”
“I do a thorough search on both sides and I've never made a mistake. Why are you asking me these questions, Penny? Are you starting to be afraid of the water?”
“I guess because you use me as bait. We've been on the water three times this week. I’ve had to sit around and let what I know to be fat slimy child raping pigs paw me because they think I am an innocent teenager. I sit in a tiny rowboat, in the cold dark of night as you take them through their make-shift trial, sentence, and executions. Then I have to row a constantly rocking boat in the dark with a dead body at my feet. I’m beginning to get immune to the act of death.”
“I hate to say it, but you will never get truly immune. It will probably become easier to accept the act, but believe me it will stay with you. The last girl to be my bait killed herself.”
“Well, I’m not gonna kill myself. How did you get into this business anyway?”
“Right….whoa …sorry about hitting the deck so hard. Wait a minute before you stand and watch your step as you get out of the water. Every time you get out you fall.” He chuckled. “Think you would have caught on by now.”
“It just takes a while for me to get my land legs back and now that it’s starting to rain I really want to move faster. Do you need me to help you tie the boat or something?”
“No, but you can take my phone from my jacket pocket and tell me what the text is saying. Someone is really trying to get in touch with me. They’ve texted ‘bout four times already. Take it and move away from the water. I just bought that phone.”
“I’ll just go up the bank to the parking lot. I’ll be in your car.”
“Fine, and remember not to touch anything. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“I know, I know.”
#
“Hey wake up. Whatcha doing sitting here with the car door unlocked? Didn’t you hear me tapping on the window? I just decided to try to open it and you almost fell into my lap.”
“No, I didn’t hear anything. I left the door unlocked for you. I thought you would be right here.”
“Sorry it took so long. I had to make sure nothing was left in or on the boat.”
“You weren’t that long. I’m just tired.”
“I know what you mean. So, what did the text say?”
“Someone wants to set up a fishing trip.”
“Are you in?”
“You’re doing a good thing, Durham. A real good thing and I’m proud of you. Too many of them perverted bastards out there hurting kids. Yeah, I’m in.”
“Great. I’ll drop you off at your car and then call the reservationist and find out the particulars. As soon as I know what’s what I’ll give you a call and see how to set things up.”
“How soon do you think it will be?”
“Not too soon. These things sometimes take a while. Some of the perves are really smart. They don’t all work alone, you know. What would really make me feel like I’m doing something is to get a large group of the filthy bastards and blow them the hell up.”
“It’s a noble but probably unattainable goal.”
“Ya, never know. Okay, we’re here. You can get out. Don’t forget. I’ll call you so don’t try calling me. It might be a few days so don’t get antsy and call me, especially not on this cell number.”
“Don’t worry I remember the drill. I go on with my life as usual and when its time, you’ll make arrangements and invite me on a fishing trip.”
“You got it. Shut the door it’s raining on my seats. Talk to you later.”
He drove off as soon as the metal of the door connected with the metal of the car’s frame.
I'm all into banging on the drums and so I googled my name. What creator does not want to have the uniqueness and greatness of her product advertised and shouted from the rooftops and throughout the airwaves?
Actually the idea came from an incident yesterday where my daughter & her boss (they're in a different part of Texas) were playing around and the boss said, I'll contact your mom and tell on you. She found me through my site and left a hilarious comment on a past post. This made me curious as to how that particular post was chosen. Enter the trip around the internet.->
Google.com has me listed by someone selling my previously published book on ebay, by my Wade-in Publishing site, mention of an Essence article by Publish America, the fact I ran for a public office, an anthology on Hurricane Ike where I have a short story published and a few blogs where I made comments. I was a little surprise. I hadn't realized your comments could be out there.
This made me go and ASK->->
With Ask.com I put in a short version of the name of my e-book Beads on a String-America's....and I found my Youtube video, Wade-In site, links from my Facebook and comments or where anyone else mentioned the book. The Result
After searching the names of my previously published novels and finding results for them I have concluded the internet is outstanding and bangs my drum loudly and forever. I'm so glad I don't run around with my unmentionables showing.
Many of the incidents that occur in the manuscript A Circle of Reasoning and the childcare center of the same name are true. Most of them were witnessed by the author. Other unspeakable things can be found on the internet examples such as the day care center in Ohio being investigated for giving children sleep medication.
A few years ago I decided to leave the public profession of working in the traditional childcare setting to caring for children in my home.
The move was not any easy choice. I worried about 1. Finance and security. 2. The legal ramifications. The main thing I wasn't worried about was the quality of care a child would receive.
After having worked in the public centers for over thirty years I witnessed so much neglect, mistreatment, and mismanagement I had to get out before something really life changing would happen and effect me and/or my children. True, there are great well run childcare centers in America, but The Perfect Solution highlights an ineffectual center, a nonprofessional director and staff, and the ease in which a child can be mistakenly placed in the hands of a stranger. Visit with the characters In The Chair and hear their opinion of the matter.
I read this handy little book Buy Ketchup in May and am really impressed. As my daughters and I were reading we fell on the topic of Melatonin. My youngest (18 yrs.)has trouble sleeping and we had recently started using it. The instructions on when to best take it was a great help. As was when is the best day to move (we're doing it in two weeks), time to treat migraine....you name your question and I'm sure you'll find it. Great size, easy to read, and very informative. I like it so much I'm going to post it on my other blog.
I give it two thumbs and two big toes in the air. WooHoo!
In order to give the readers a chance to know the characters in my manuscripts, a room with a chair was set up at In the Chair. http://theinterviewedcharacter.blogspot.com/.
The first characters will be from the novel The Perfect Solution. In this novel a three year old is stalked and mistakenly given to the stalker by his preschool teacher. Go on over and meet Mona Boots, the stalker.
I am an electronic gadget fiend. I loved my creature comforts. My bag was always filled with my 160gb Ipod (filled to 134 gigs with podcasts, mega amounts of music, music videos, homemovies and over 300 commercial movies) my PSP, my Blackberry Curve and my Sony laptop. When Hurricanes Rita and Ike flew in for a visit, nothing was left behind. I was happy. Until the day my Ipod contents were totally deleted without rhyme or reason. I was so hurt looking through and seeing a completely restored item I wanted to cry. I think that was the day I lost trust in the electronics.
What I would really like to get is a Nook. My question, what would happen if the electronic reader deletes all of its contents? Would Sony, Kindle, or Barnes & Noble restore my items or will I just be in mourning as I was with Itunes?
When we forget our histories, ignore the presence....we miss out of life. History was made out of more than Black and White. Get to know your history. Live your history. It happens on the daily.
According to Jan Null, CCM’s article Hyperthermia Deaths of Children in Vehicles there were 443 U.S. deaths from 1998-2009.With the announcement of a new life coming into the family and the Holidays coming around parents and family members begin thinking about the gifts to give. The thought to get beyond is not what would be ‘the toy’ of the moment, but what would be the safest, require a little parental supervision, is not too noisy, and hopefully provide a little education.
Toys are great, but if you want to give a gift that will save a life, the Child Minder Toddler/Infant Safety Seat Monitor developed by Baby Alert would be a choice to consider. The system consists of a seat pad, key alarm fob $69.00, and a smart clip $69.00 and extra key fob $28.00. These little items remind parents a child is in the safety seat by sounding an alarm. Be safe this holiday season.
Have you seen the new banner for the Wade-In Publishing website? Sure you can click on over or watch here. I learned how to remove the bars and it looks better on the site. I'm tickled at the things one can learn on their own.
You know when you are a real writer? When you get a rejection letter and your first thought is: dang, I know exactly what I did wrong and I must correct for next submit.
This morning I took my usual blog tours and had a lightening of spirit. I was getting bogged down by comments on Twitter and forgetting who I am and how everyone's negative experience is not my baggage. As a writer I must tap on, correct, improve, and submit to the right agent.
This morning I remembered I am more than a writer, I am a published author and I better get to my business.
Yesterday I read J.A Koranth's blog A Newbie's Guide to Publishing I must say he is one of the first in my 'hero line'. His prediction for e-books sounds promising. When it comes to the prediction of novels with multi-media, music, videos and such I must say the future is now.

Checking the web for a site carrying information anywhere near Bead on a String America's Racially Intertwined Biographical History I fell into a couple of articles questioning The future of Wikipedia and Wikipedia shows signs of stalling as number of volunteers falls sharply. In the latter article it stated a study saying Wiki is as accurate as Britannica. Whoopi! I knew people would eventually value their business and start doing it right.
As a homeschooling parent it came across the mind of my youngest daughter to ask about a history book that talked about all the races within its bounded pages. She is a born optimist and hates the way we as adults seem to enjoy racial profiling. I as the mother wanted to give her what she wanted and I could find none. So we decided to write our own. I guess you ask why did I choose to use Wikipedia, huh? We chose to use Wikipedia as our resource because it was established by the people. People with interest in America's history, proud of their own heritage and who believed enough in themselves to gather and write about the people, organizations, and all fractions of society that helped to make America the great nation it has become and if anyone has a problem with it, they can go in and change history.
Beads is a book celebrating and combining all races between the covers by year and area of contribution not by race. I haven't seen another history book that has bridged this gap. This is true American history. It is not a traditional Kindle type book because it has videos, page turning effects and hyper-linking. I am working on putting it in the required form for Kindle as an option and maybe getting it into print one day.
Both sites seemed to touch on the same thing. The power of words. I have long ago put a leash on my tongue and a caution at the tap of my fingers on the keys. It is so easy to either sway someone to your beliefs or lose the followers you have gained.
When penning Beads on a String- America's Racially Intertwined Biographical History the thing that stood out the most was how easy the use of mere words set the fate and labeling of the races in America and how later the author of the thesis paper regretted his words, but could not change them or the actions they caused. The full study can be read in Beads in a String-America's Racially Intertwined Biographical History.
The concept of race was developed and established by a study and thesis paper that was written by JFLOWTEXTLINK ,WEB,HTTP:////en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Friedrich_Blumenbach,,ohann Friedrich Blumenbach. born May 11, 1752 was a German physiologist and anthropologist. His thesis paper written about the difference in people and titled On the Natural Varieties of Mankind was considered one of the most influential papers of his time and basically established the way different races are seen in the world today. Blumenbach's theory was based on his study of 60 human skulls. With these skulls Blumenbach divided humans into five races, Caucasian (white), Mongolian (yellow), Malayan (brown), Ethiopian (black), and American (red).
Blumenbach’s analysis sealed the fate of every race other than Caucasian as inferior.
"Within America's history-“I feel that we, as Americans, are all equal and held together by a common thread. Like a treasured beaded necklace of different colors, held together on a string, we are held together by our necessities and our circumstances and our humanity. Every color helps to make the necklace beautiful. We can never be a totally separate entity! Americans of all colors are so integrated that if we hurt one, we hurt all. Just like that necklace of treasured beads- leave one out and the gap is seen. Break the chain and many of us are lost.” What do you believe?
